Middletown sportswriter honored

MIDDLETOWN, NY – Michael P. Geffner, sports columnist for the Times Herald-Record of the Local Media Group, has won an Associated Press Sports Editors Top 10 award for a feature story he wrote on Mets manager Willie Randolph. Geffner’s story focused on the New York neighborhood where Randolph grew up and how that shaped the man he is today. This is Geffner’s second straight APSE Top 10. Last year, both Geffner and columnist Dave Buscema were named Top 10 in the column writing category.
